A Piece of Heaven. Cleanest Cottage we ever rented. Bill and Emily are fantastic for sure. A short walk to Salt Pond Beach. Vitran bus stop close by. I'm 71 years my wife 65. We loved the hiking, snorkeling and the wild life viewing, excellent. We used public transportation the whole week. We got around easily. Git er dun. Steve and Laurie

St John on the quiet side. Cute studio cottage with all the amenities. Rustic and close to the National Park. Not a villa in site! Walking distance to Salt Pond Bay and Lameshure Bays and the Petroglyph trail to Reef Bay. Very sweet and quiet and away from all the hubbub of Cruz Bay. Miss Lucy's and Auqua Bistro are a few minutes away. All the best of St John.

If you need to get away from a busy city life with all stress it loads on you, than this is the place. Surrounded with mountains views, many world class beaches and hikings. You will enjoy it.

Cool spot. Excellent stay just a few minutes away from an awesome beach with great snorkeling and hikes with gorgeous views. Would definitely come back. Host is very easy to communicate with and supplies a thorough package full of information about the area.

Beautiful vacation cottage. The Lameshur Cottage was perfect for a quiet, restful stay with a great location, a short walk from Salt Pond Bay and a short drive to the Lameshur beaches and the hiking trails in the park.

My favorite spot to stay!
Such a unique experience for a B&B next to the national park, gorgeous view of the jungle and no better place to wake up to. My friend loved sleeping on the patio in the netted open air bed and listening to all of the beautiful jungle sounds. Thank you again!

Amazing, chill, friendly hosts for a relaxing nature cabin stay
Bill and Emily were the best hosts ever! They were super inviting and accommodating! When we accidentally lost our rental keys in the ocean they came to the rescue and went above and beyond, making the whole trip very fun and enjoyable!

Lovely, private cottage next to beautiful beaches
Beautiful, kind people stayed in the adjacent cottages to us. It was great getting to know them and learning about what's best to visit nearby. The cottages are not 4 star hotels, but they are so cute, well prepared (including snorkeling and paddle equipment!) and offer an intimate, yet clean, experience with nature. We loved our stay and took advantage of staying outside inside a mosquito netted bed for one evening, awakened by a beautiful sunrise over the hills. Also, Salt Pond Bay just down the road offered incredible snorkeling sights.

Lovely spot in the quiet beauty of St John!
I took my mom to St John for her 70th birthday, and this was a perfect spot for us! Tucked in the hills right by Salt Pond Bay (walkable), we loved being on the quiet side of the island. Bill and Emily were super friendly and available for all our questions. They sent us great info about the area (including local restaurants) and the house details before we arrived. The house is very sweet, cheery, and clean, with all the things we needed, including two 5 gallon bottles of drinking water (way more than we used). They also had a shed full of beach chairs, floats, and snorkel gear for guests’ use. Thanks for an awesome stay in St John!!

We loved our stay in the 2-person cottage. So quiet, but movies and music too. Great view of the National Park’s eastward mountains. Most of the best snorkeling sites are very nearby. Liz was so attentive and helpful. High recommendations!

What a life! The American Caribbean Paradise!
Disclaimer: It is out of respect for the establishment we share this information, we’d rather not for fear of everyone finding out about it and ruining it, taking all the space, or changing it in any way! SAVE CORAL BAY! What a life! We always knew there was a special island for us – with a private cottage in the American Paradise. Our simply appointed Caribbean love shack was the perfect escape from the ferry tourists and bourgeois of Cruz Bay. Bright & loveable, we had basic accoutrements we needed for cooking (groceries are expensive, new cookware would be nice) and relaxing after epic beach days on our sublime valley veranda. Perched upon cliff’s edge, the cottage radiated charm & comfort, with picturesque Caribbean shutters and cotton curtains drifting in the gentle winds. The cottage is intimate & romantic, but the highfalutin may not appreciate its coziness (i.e. no bathroom door to close, only a curtain – petite shower stall, no curtain). A small dining table nestled between rooms served as a good setting for morning breakfasts basking in the sunrise (I diverge to mention one must get up and hit the road early to secure ample parking and shade if Caribbean fantasy beach dreams are to be fulfilled). The couch/bed was comfy (slightly awkward centered in the room but adequate and understandable given some rain), island breezes constant, and stars: Spectacular! There were no bugs, and after we returned home, we laughed about water conservation (drinking water is a luxury – buy a case of bottled water at Starfish Market in Cruz Bay), toilet sensitivity (NO PAPER IN THE TOILET!), and food receptacles (leave no food out!). The phones were off, television or internet went unused - it was heavenly, and then we took a little footpath to a beach like no other - anywhere. Garbage must be disposed of down the road, and most surrounding structures were destroyed. Regardless, our retreat was at the far end of our Virgin Pirate Paradise - we loved & treasured it. The daily drives to all the beaches weren’t long and the views: Breathtaking! After settling in, we realized we were particularly lucky to be staying there, the price was right and the homespun atmosphere idyllic. Russ and Liz were fabulous to work with, and the Coral Bay side of the island is far superior, if you’re looking for relaxed, unpretentious, and colorful, approachable characters. There are no words for how truly special this place is, a plucked dusky jewel! Just Go!

beautiful getaway in St John
We stayed at Lameshur Cottages February 21-25, 2019 and found the lovely accommodations exceeded our expectations. The studio space was just big enough for my husband and myself and the kitchen was fully equipped including working stove, oven and refrigerator. We really enjoyed the hot shower but understand that water is a premium so kept them short. Do use mosquito repellant when you go outdoors if you don't want to be itching. For swimming, sunning and snorkeling, Salt Pond Bay is within easy walking distance but for visits to more popular beaches on the North Side getting a rental car is a must. To fully view beautiful Caribbean sunset and sunrises near the cottage requires a easy to moderate 30-60 minute hike to the best vantage point but the landscape along the way is most enjoyable. Besides general R&R, bird watching and photo taking are 2 fun activities we took advantage of at the cottage. Thank you Russ and Liz sharing your beautiful corner of paradise.

We can’t even find the right words to describe how spectacular this place is. If you want to experience the nature in its purest form on St. John there is no better location than this one. There are tons of beaches around and within walking distance you can enjoy a nice day at Salt Pond (amazing sandy beach with very few people). I can’t thank Liz and Russ enough for being the best hosts that I’ve ever met. They gave us great recommendations on local food and snorkeling and were very respectful of our privacy. We will be most definitely coming back!

We just got done staying in the cottage, and it was wonderful. Everything you could possible need for a relaxing week at the beach was provided and was easy to find. The design was bright and cheery with shelves full of books and tropical decorations. It was the perfect size for two people, and very private, with a secluded porch on the one side that overlooked the salt pond and the green mountainsides. We spent many hours there reading and relaxing in the lounge chairs. Sleeping was perfect! The bed was comfy, and a warm dry breeze would blow through the room all night keeping it the perfect temperature. In the morning the sun would light up the bright, cheery room and you couldn't help but wake up with a smile on your face. Secluded beaches and hiking are very close ( jeep is a must ) and the beaches are still beautiful, even though the snorkeling will take a few years to recover after the storms. Restaurants and groceries are a quick drive away. Our favorites were Wok on the Beach, and Miss Lucy's along with Pizza in Paradise.
Liz was quick and detailed in all her communications, and we will definitely be coming back back here several time a year.

My husband and I stayed in the Studio at Lameshur Cottages for one week in early May. What a find! We need look no further for the perfect place for us on St. John. The cottage was impeccably clean, the bed comfortable. Linens and towels, including beach towels, of good quality and sufficient quantity for our stay. We prepared most of our meals at the cottage. Kitchen appliances, utensils, cookware, and dishes met or exceeded our needs. Plenty of books for recreational reading as well as field guides, island guidebooks, maps, you name it!
Now for the good part: location, location, location! The cottages (there is also a two-bedroom) are perched high on a hillside at the end of the paved road beyond the town of Coral Bay between Salt Pond Bay and Lameshur Bays, both good snorkeling sites. At the end of the paved road, the cottages are private and quiet with very little traffic. We are avid birders and enjoyed bird watching from the large covered deck. Up close we had bananaquits, bull thrushes, hummingbirds, and other small birds while the nearby pond provided plenty of egrets and frigate birds.
The owner was quick to respond to our questions both before and during our stay. She provided us with easy to follow directions for reaching the cottage as well as detailed information regarding local shopping, grocery, and restaurants.
We look forward to returning to St. John and staying at Lameshur Cottages.

We have stayed at Cinnamon Bay Campground for many years, but due to the hurricanes needed an alternative. Liz and Russ's Cottage was absolutely perfect for us. We love the Coral Bay side of the island, and Salt Pond, Ram's Head and the Lameshur beaches are all close to this cottage. The cottage itself is clean, bright and has a beautiful breeze most of the time. We found everything we needed, as well as books to read and music to listen to. There is a great view of the surrounding national park, and it is a very quiet setting. Despite our flight delay and late arrival, Russ was out on the road when we arrived to get us settled in the cottage. They were great hosts, and only wish we could have stayed longer!

We had the perfect weekend getaway at the cottage! We loved everything about our stay here. The cottage provided the ultimate tropical feel and we felt super cozy tucked in the hillside. Also, couldn't have asked for better, more friendly/helpful hosts. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back!

The studio was a fantastic place to stay for the week. With sweeping valley views, I couldn't wait for sunrise each morning! Super clean and comfortably cool from the breezes... Quiet and away from it all, yet easy to get to and close to Salt Pond Bay... The owners, Liz and Russ are very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend the studio for those who love the nature of the island and appreciate a quiet, cozy and comfortable place to call their base camp while on St. John.... I look forward to going back!

Our stay for 9 nights at Lameshur Studio Cottage was absolutely stunning! The awakening each morning to a gorgeous mountain view while listening to all of nature's sounds was very peaceful. The cool cross breezes made it perfectly comfortable sleeping conditions. This cute & cuddly studio offers complete privacy on a side deck with awesome relaxing views and private dining area to enjoy grilled dinners, read, relax and take an open air siesta! The caretakers/owners of this property are always attending to the beauty of the cottages and grounds and ensure that your stay is enjoyed! Thank you Russ & Liz for another terrific vacation in paradise at Lameshur Cottages. We will return again as we have in the past. It is always difficult to choose between the cottages, both are amazing and affordable!

We were looking for a Caribbean experience that was authentic, and we found it! We would go to sleep at night looking out at the hills and valley, and then have coffee on the deck next morning, watching the hummingbirds. It was peaceful and beautiful, and we can't wait to come back next year.

We had a fantastic stay in Saint John. The cottage was cozy and quiet, just what we wanted. I'm glad we were on the quieter side of the island, even if that meant we did a lot more driving than expected, to explore the northern beaches. I loved the amount of outdoor space. We really looked forward to getting back to the cottage after long days of sun and exploring. Every single restaurant and activity recommended in the welcome note was fantastic. We appreciated having that insight. The bed felt a bit small for the two of us, but we didn't mind. There are definitely mosquitoes, but not sure that can be avoided in Coral Bay. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a cosy place to call home while in Saint John!!

I highly recommend you stay here. If you're looking to get away from it all, discover St. John and enjoy USVI National Park, this is the place you want to stay. It's a lovely cottage at pretty much the end of the road. Enjoy the big screen windows and take in the star filled night sky. Fall asleep to crickets & peepers. Wake up to roosters crowing in the distance & morning doves at your window. The cottage is close to the park, hiking trails, several beaches, hidden coves & bays and a few local spots to enjoy great food if you don't feel like cooking at home. This is a great base for exploring the island and coming home to every night. You'll be charmed by this part of the island, the cottage and the wonderful hospitality Liz and Russ offer.

I have been to many wonderful places. This was by far one of the best vacations we have been on. It was far better then we had expected and we are already planning for next year. Russ was on the property to assist with anything we needed. In addition - it had all of the extras you need for the beach; chairs, cooler etc... Perfect place!!!

Our 4th visit to St John and our most peaceful visit yet. We stayed in the studio and loved it! Both Russ and Liz were great! A very hard working couple that were always available if we needed them but we never felt they were intruding. As mentioned in other reviews the cottage has everything that you would need. During our stay Russ completed an upgrade to the water storage and supply for the studio ,which worked wonderfully.Although remote, the cottage is a short walk to the bus stop which stops at Salt Pond Bay and then heads back to Cruz Bay. The buses seem more reliable than in past years, and the price is only $1/per person. If you like to hike ,the cottage is close to several of the most popular trails. Beaches are nearby and Coral Bay has plenty of good choices for dining. We found the cottage to be perfect !! We are planning a trip for next year and hopefully will stay at the cottage/studio again.
